One of the best ways to maintain the health of your hair is to know the right temperature to wash it. We’ve already covered how often you should be washing your hair per week (2-3 times max.) as well as the kinds of shampoos to use (sulfate-free) but what about the water temperature? While many of us love to take hot showers it’s not always the best for your hair and this is something you should be aware of.
Let us explain, Hot water opens up the cuticles of your hair allowing the ingredients of shampoo and conditioner to come in and work their magic but we most certainly don’t want to keep those cuticles to remain open for too long. That’s why it’s important to finish off your shower by rinsing your hair with cold water, which closes the cuticles of your hair and locks in the conditioner for a smooth and shiny finish.
The good news is that you don’t have to skip the hot shower entirely but a little adjustment to the end will save the health of your hair.
